Light mode or dark mode does not switch

Symptoms

If one or more of these match what you are seeing, you are on the right page.

• •No theme toggle can be found in the menus or preferences
• •The interface stays dark after changing a browser setting
• •The theme differs between two machines using the same account
• •Contrast is too low in bright ambient light

Causes and fixes

Ordered from most to least likely. Work down the list — each cause is paired with what to do about it.

1. 1

   You are looking for an in-app toggle that does not exist.

   Change your operating system appearance setting instead. FlashFX syncs to it automatically, along with reduced motion and high contrast preferences.

2. 2

   The browser is overriding the system preference.

   Some browsers let you force a page color scheme independently of the OS. Reset that override so the system preference reaches the editor.

3. 3

   What you actually need is more contrast, not a lighter theme.

   Toggle High Contrast Mode with Ctrl+Alt+H. It increases the contrast of borders, icons and text labels against the dark theme, which is usually the better answer for bright environments.

4. 4

   Interface text is too small to read comfortably.

   Text Size in UI raises label and value sizes independently of the global UI Scale setting, so you can keep a compact layout and still read it.
