Changes are not saving

FlashFX syncs on an interval rather than on every change, and the sync indicator in the menu bar is the authoritative signal. If it reads Saved, your work is stored; if it reads Sync Error or Unsaved Changes for more than one interval, something is blocking the write.

Symptoms

If one or more of these match what you are seeing, you are on the right page.

  • •The sync indicator stays on Unsaved Changes or shows Sync Error
  • •Reopening the project loses the last few minutes of work
  • •Changes persist in one browser but not another
  • •The account indicator shows storage at or near capacity

Causes and fixes

Ordered from most to least likely. Work down the list — each cause is paired with what to do about it.

  1. 1

    The auto-save interval has not elapsed yet.

    Auto-save defaults to one minute, and can be set to 30 seconds, 2 minutes, 5 minutes or Manual only in Edit → Preferences. Press Ctrl+S to force an immediate sync rather than waiting.

    Auto-save is set to Manual only.

    In this mode nothing is written until you trigger it. Either change the interval in Preferences or make Ctrl+S part of your routine.

  3. 3

    The cloud storage quota is full.

    The free tier provides 50 MB. Embedded images are the dominant driver of project size — shape geometry, text and keyframes are comparatively tiny. Check usage in the account indicator, then remove unused assets or reduce embedded image resolution.

  4. 4

    Guest mode has exhausted the browser local storage quota.

    Guest projects are limited to the browser quota, typically 5–50 MB depending on browser and device. Create a free account to move storage to the cloud.

  5. 5

    The browser is offline.

    Changes are queued locally and sync automatically when connectivity returns. Leave the tab open until the indicator returns to Saved — closing it while offline risks the queued changes.
